ABOUT
Pearl Clapp is a self-taught artist from Southern Ontario.
Pearl started tattooing when she was 18 years old at a street shop in Kingston, Ontario in 2013. Initially doing walk-ins for the first 5 years while developing a personal style, or more accurately, styles plural, on the side.
Forever experimenting and feeling out new techniques and modes of expression.
Once consumed by the little details, she has gained a new appreciation for the bigger picture.
Pearl is in the midst of a style breakdown and an artistic revival.
With “sacrifice” being the word of focus going into 2026, Pearl is embracing letting go of past styles to focus on melting all of her styles together into one style. Letting go of anything not needed to support the expression of the idea ~ the feeling ~, she hopes to fully embrace simplicity and unity in her new work.
As well as tattooing, Pearl works in a variety of mediums including stained glass, paint, sculpture, sewing & embroidery.
